No more armpit sweating! Try these 10 tips to prevent it now

Are you tired of hiding armpit sweat stains and managing them every day? Well, summer and sweating go hand in hand. While minimal perspiration is common and poses no major issues, excessive perspiration is a concern. It can drench your favorite top or dress, and those visible sweat marks can be uncomfortable and annoying. But don’t worry; we are here to assist you. There are several tips that can help you control your sweat.

How to stop sweating armpits?

Armpit sweating is a physiological function that helps control body temperature and cools the body down when it becomes too warm. However, some people may suffer from excessive and bothersome armpit sweating. In order to learn how to reduce armpit sweating naturally, Health Shots got in touch with beauty industry veteran Dr Blossom Kochhar, Chairperson of Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies.

Dr Kochhar says, “Excessive underarm sweating can make you feel really uncomfortable especially if the problem persists. This can significantly affect your daily life but fortunately, you can manage this at home.”

If you’re looking for ways to reduce or stop sweating in your armpits, here are 10 tips:

1. Practice good hygiene

Maintaining proper hygiene is essential in controlling underarm sweating. Wash your underarms with antibacterial soap regularly to prevent bacterial growth that can contribute to odor. Dry your underarms thoroughly after showering.

2. Use antiperspirants

Choose antiperspirants rather than deodorants as they can help reduce sweat production. Look for antiperspirants that contain aluminum chloride, which helps block sweat glands. Apply them at night before bed when sweat production is lower, allowing them to work effectively.

3. Wear breathable fabrics

Opt for natural fabrics such as cotton, linen or bamboo that allow air circulation and help absorb moisture. Avoid synthetic materials like nylon or polyester that trap heat and moisture, exacerbating sweating.

4. Dress strategically

Opt for loose-fitting clothing that promotes airflow and reduces friction against your skin. Avoid tight-fitting or restrictive clothing that can increase sweating and make you feel more uncomfortable.

5. Manage stress

Stress and anxiety can trigger excessive sweating. Use stress-reduction strategies like yoga, meditation, and deep breathing exercises, as well as indulging in hobbies and other enjoyable activities. Additionally, consider seeking professional help if stress becomes overwhelming.

6. Avoid triggers

Identify specific triggers that cause your underarms to sweat excessively. Common triggers include spicy foods, caffeine, alcohol, and hot beverages. Minimize or avoid these triggers to reduce sweating episodes.

7. Stay hydrated

Drinking plenty of water helps regulate your body temperature and can reduce sweating. Aim for at least eight glasses of water per day to stay hydrated and maintain overall bodily functions.

8. Use sweat pads or liners

These absorbent pads can be placed in your underarm area to absorb sweat and prevent it from soaking through your clothes. They provide a temporary solution to keep you dry throughout the day.

9. Consider medical treatments

If excessive sweating persists despite lifestyle modifications, consult a dermatologist. They may recommend treatments such as prescription antiperspirants, iontophoresis (using electrical currents to reduce sweat production), botox injections, or even surgical options like sweat gland removal.

10. Maintain a healthy weight

Being overweight can contribute to excessive sweating. By maintaining a healthy weight through a balanced diet and regular exercise, you can reduce overall sweating, including underarm sweating.

Remember, everyone’s body is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. If your excessive underarm sweating is causing significant discomfort or affecting your daily life, it’s important to seek professional medical advice for an accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plan.
